The Helen Diller Center for Veterans of US Military Service: Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On February 7, Golden Gate University hosted a luncheon and ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Helen Diller Center for Veterans of US Military Service.

The Helen Diller Center for Veterans of US Military Service at Golden Gate University was launched in 2020 with a generous $2M grant from The Helen Diller Foundation. This pioneering initiative takes a comprehensive approach to supporting military-connected students by fostering academic, social, and career achievements for military veterans, active-duty service members and their families.

Retired chairman and CEO of Bank of America, and former commander in the US Naval Reserve, the late Richard Rosenberg (MBA '63, JD '66, LLD '88).

The center was established in honor of distinguished GGU alum, retired chairman and CEO of Bank of America, and former commander in the US Naval Reserve, the late Richard “Dick” Rosenberg — MBA '63, JD '66, LLD '88. The ceremony, hosted by Dr. David Fike, GGU President, and Dr. Jason Dempsey, Diller Center Director, also served to recognize and applaud Dick Rosenberg’s lifetime accomplishments and express deep gratitude for his invaluable support in furthering the mission of Golden Gate University. In attendance as our honored guests were his sons, Michael Rosenberg and Peter Rosenberg, along with Jackie Safier and Phyllis Cook.

[My father] was asked by a reporter, “You must be pretty tough running the Bank of America under a lot of pressure?” And he said, “Yeah, there was a lot of pressure, but it was nothing like being the officer of the deck in darkened ship conditions a thousand feet from the flagship. Now that’s pressure.” The military always was really special to him, as was GGU.
