Get Outside

Fee-Free National Parks Day Muir Woods + Yosemite for Veterans Day

Saturday, November 11 – All Day, All Over California

If you want to get away from it all, clear your head with the peace and serenity of the beautiful sights and scenes of nature found in a national park. On certain "fee-free" days throughout the year, enjoy free entry to all national parks and monuments, including Muir Woods and Yosemite National Park.

Mt. Tam Trail Run

Saturday, November 11 – 7:30 a.m., Stinson Beach Park Golden Gate National Recreation Area

The Mt. Tam Trail Run begins at Stinson Beach and climbs (and climbs!) to perched views from Tam before returning via some of the best trails the Headlands offers until reaching the beach and bountiful post-race food. Bring the family, enjoy an afternoon with friends in the sand, and surf. Registration is limited, but participants may choose from a 10K, Half Marathon, 20K, and 50K race distances.

Celebrate Local History

Free Living Ship Day at USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier

Saturday, November 11 – 9:30 a.m., USS Hornet Museum, Alameda, California

This year marks two milestones at the USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum– the 80th anniversary of the commissioning of the ship and the 25th anniversary of her current mission as a museum. The USS Hornet will have its usual ceremonies to honor all who have served, including a wreath-laying. Following this will be an afternoon of guest speakers, open cockpits, extra food vendors, no-host bars, an open island for touring, a flyover by the Memorial Squadron and more. Advanced registration is required for admission.

Savor an Outdoor Festival

San Francisco Coffee Festival

Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12– Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture - Festival Pavilion

This is the perfect festival for those who are in love with coffee! Sample unique flavors from a large variety of exhibitors. You can also listen to live music as you savor your coffee samples. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days. Get your tickets early, as this event always sells out.

The San Francisco Fall Cider Fest

Saturday, November 11– SPARK Social Mission Bay

Slip on your softest sweater, snuggle into your favorite scarf, and drink in the crispness of autumn at The San Francisco Fall Cider Festival! Raise your glass and sip through unlimited pours of 30+ ciders with sweet honey sage, spicy ginger, sour blood orange, and tropical hibiscus. Plus, savor all your fall favorites from the food trucks! Keep toasty at a firepit with some s'mores, challenge your friends to lawn games, dance to live music, or let your competitive side shine in an eating contest.

Enjoy the Arts

Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing with Bard Theatre

Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11 – 7:00 p.m.; Sunday, November 12 – 2:30 p.m. Victoria Theatre

Bard Theatre's inaugural production of William Shakespeare's classic comedy play, Much Ado About Nothing, will reimagine Messina as a summer villa outside Hollywood in 1953. Gorgeous starlets & dashing crooners, cunning political upstarts & haughty heiresses have all called the place home, at least for an evening. Wits will clash, hearts will be broken, but someone may find their Hollywood Ending.

SF International Hip Hop Dancefest

Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12 – Palace of Fine Arts

This year marks the 25th annual SF International Hip Hop Dancefest, the first festival of its kind to honor the artistry of hip-hop in a non-competitive environment. The festival features performances by professional dance companies from all over the world.
