9 Student Veteran Organizations and Resources to Build a Supportive Network

GGU understands student veterans' unique challenges as they transition from military service to academic life. Building a solid and supportive network is crucial for success, and luckily, several outstanding organizations and resources are available. They provide various services, from mentorship and academic assistance to community building, physical and mental health services, and career development.

Student Veterans of America (SVA)

SVA is a nationally recognized organization that connects student veterans across campuses, fostering a sense of camaraderie and support. They offer resources for academic success, networking events, and leadership opportunities.

Warrior-Scholar Project

The Warrior-Scholar Project offers immersive academic boot camps to help veterans transition from the military to higher education. These week-long programs provide intensive writing and reading workshops.

American Corporate Partners (ACP)

ACP offers a mentorship program that pairs student veterans with corporate professionals for one-on-one career guidance and support. It is an excellent resource for veterans seeking guidance on their career paths.

Travis Manion Foundation

Focused on character and leadership development, this organization empowers veterans to become community mentors and leaders. It offers personal development workshops and service opportunities.

Veterans Writing Project

This organization offers workshops, writing groups, and publishing opportunities for those interested in writing and self-expression. It's a fantastic outlet for creative expression and therapeutic writing.

Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB)

Team RWB encourages veterans to stay active and engaged in their communities by promoting physical and social activities. It organizes events like fitness challenges, social gatherings, and community service projects.

Purple Heart Foundation

This organization provides educational scholarships and financial assistance to veterans pursuing higher education. They support veterans with service-related disabilities who are determined to succeed academically.

Veterans Education Project

With a focus on empowering veterans through education, this project offers workshops, resources, and mentorship programs that help veterans navigate the academic landscape and succeed in their studies.

Mission 22

Mission 22's programs for veterans and military spouses offer everything from biometric monitoring of stress, sleep, and activity levels; to meditation and coaching; to exercise programs and a wellness supplement regimen; to books and learning resources to help veterans put their experience in context.

At GGU, we encourage our military-connected students to explore these options and leverage the support they provide as they embark on their educational journeys. Building a network is not just about succeeding academically; it's about fostering personal growth, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging long after graduation.
