Are you interested in studying law? GGU has an option for everyone.

Typically, those interested in legal careers lean towards a "pre-law" undergraduate program or majors considered traditional for law school. Those often include history, English, political science or business. Other non-traditional majors like music, art, math or computer science can be helpful, depending on the type of law you'd like to practice. The decision on which major can be overwhelming. Luckily, GGU offers degrees in law at the undergraduate (bachelor's), graduate (master's) and doctorate levels. Learn about these programs and which one fits you the best.

There's another option.

To make things easy GGU offers a Bachelor of Arts in Law. The program is an excellent way to develop knowledge of essential topics and theoretical perspectives. This program teaches fundamental law areas, including administrative, constitutional, contract, criminal and civil law. These areas are explained with real-life examples encouraging students to start thinking like a lawyer.

While many will take their undergraduate law degree and advance to a JD program, some may use it in other ways. The program gives students knowledge and skills that will work in areas like social work, real estate, politics, administration and public affairs.

Of course, one additional and perhaps the most attractive bonus of this program is that it sets students up for a smooth transition to one of the JD programs GGU offers.

A minor in law is an option, too.

A minor is also available if a law major differs from what students are looking for, but they still need some law knowledge for their desired career. Students interested in human relations, corporate compliance or social service work may consider this minor to give them a basic understanding.

The Next Step – GGU Law

After a student has completed their BA in Law or another undergraduate program and wants to study law, they can easily move to the JD program. GGU Law offers flexible scheduling and courses taught by faculty with a diverse experience in legal studies. GGU's full-time day program covers three years of hands-on programs, electives and valuable training opportunities. For those who need more flexibility, the JD Flex Program allows for the personalization of online learning without sacrificing personal connection.

GGU also offers a joint MBA/JD program allowing students to pursue law and a master's degree in business administration. This joint program is ideal for students who want to study both and have the time to devote to the expanded program. Credits from one degree can count for the other program to help decrease the program's time. A Master of Laws (LLM) and a Doctor of Juridical Sciences (SJD) in International Legal Studies are programs also available to students.

In addition to specialization certificates in areas such as litigation and environmental law, GGU also offers a two-week summer session in Paris where students study comparative law with others from around the world at the Université Paris Nanterre. Students can also work under a practicing attorney's supervision while earning credits at one of the legal clinics.
