Marines’ Memorial, The Perfect Place to Stay

Back to school this fall also means back to attending classes in person. You'll want to get the most for your money without sacrificing quality when making travel plans. One great option for GGU students residing outside the Bay Area is the Marines' Memorial Club and Hotel – located right in the heart of San Francisco.

The Union Square area makes the hotel a 10-minute walk to the Powell Street BART station, which is a great way to get from the hotel to the airport. Chinatown is about 12 minutes away by foot, and there are several things to do in the immediate area.

Check out this list for more ideas on what to do while in San Francisco.

Why Stay Here

Marines' Memorial is just off Union Square, a quick drive or even a reasonable walk away from GGU's campus. If you're driving into town and need a place to park, you can park at Olympic Garage, just a few doors down from the hotel, for $45 per 24-hour period.

The historic building has a rooftop restaurant, a library, a theater and a health club. Guest rooms have free daily newspaper delivery and deluxe guest robes. You're in for a real treat if you stay here. A "Living Memorial" museum at the hotel serves as a tribute to fallen service members. The halls have photos, medals and interactive exhibits to view as you pass by.

Another reason to stay at Marines' Memorial is the gym or health club – it's top-notch. With a lap pool, steam rooms and massage treatment rooms, you can keep in shape and enjoy yourself.

Discount!

And, they are offering a special discount for GGU student veterans – their member rate. This rate may fluctuate throughout the year depending on dates, room type and how many people are in the room. It's also available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Make Your Reservation

To make your reservation, call 1-800-562-7463 or email reservations@marinesmemorial.org and ask for the Golden Gate University Student Veterans or "GGUVET" rate. It's even easier to do it online at www.marinesmemorial.org. Use the same code.

As a reminder, you'll have to provide proof you are a GGU student (ex: student ID or badge) for the rate to be honored. You can do this at check-in.

Join a strong community of military veterans and their family members by connecting with other students at GGU.
