Meet Jenna: Career Programs and Outreach Manager

Golden Gate University is known for its excellent services for military-connected students, and the Diller Center is no exception. Jenna Piva Laramie has a unique perspective on career development, especially for military-connected students. In this blog post, we will get to know Jenna and the services she offers.

Who is Jenna Piva Laramie?

Jenna Piva Laramie is the Career Programs and Outreach Manager at the Helen Diller Center for Veterans of US Military Service at Golden Gate University. With an 11-year military spouse background, she knows what it takes to navigate career development while being a military spouse. Jenna has a master's degree in counseling psychology and is passionate about working with people serving our country.

Jenna's Connection to the Military

Jenna's husband joined the Navy while she was in the middle of her master's program. Being a military spouse taught Jenna to be flexible and to follow her interests. She started working in mental health with veterans and was a military and family life counselor for a few years. After relocating to Indiana, Jenna worked in career services and was able to combine her interests in veterans with career services.

Jenna's Services

Jenna offers services that complement regular career services. Together, they work with students on everything in their career development, including resume writing, language translation of military service to civilian employers, and conversations around career development. Jenna can also help students identify their interests, values, personality, and strengths and use them to plan their career path.

When to Reach Out to Jenna

Jenna recommends that students engage with career services early in their first term. Waiting until graduation to think about career development is not ideal, and it's never too early to start thinking about it. Small steps like browsing interesting websites or talking to alums from GGU who were also military-connected can make a big difference.
