Special Guest

LeRoy Acosta, National Service Officer, DAV A native of Lincoln, Nebraska LeRoy Acosta enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1979. Career highlights include Drill Instructor Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA; deployments to the Mediterranean Sea, with Battalion Landing Team 3/6, 26th Marine Amphibious Unit, (Special Operations Capable) Fleet Marine Force Atlantic; and deployments to Okinawa Japan, Pusan, and Pohang Korea. Honorably discharged 1992.

Mr. Acosta studied health information management at the San Diego Community College District. Acosta joined DAV’s professional staff as a national service officer in 2005 in San Diego. He was promoted to the assistant supervisor there in 2007. Mr. Acosta was elected State Commander for the 100,911-member DAV Department of California 2011, in Sacramento, CA. In 2012, Acosta was transferred to supervise in DAV Oakland, California, where he served until his appointment to the National Service and Legislative staff in Washington D.C. in 2015. Acosta seized the opportunity to supervise the DAV Los Angeles National Service Office, July 2020.

Mr. Acosta and his wife Martha have 6 adult children.
